President Prabowo speeds up digital learning in 173,000 schools

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said on Monday that roughly 173,000 schools nationwide have received interactive flat panels (IFPs) as part of a national push to digitalize classrooms and narrow education gaps across the archipelago.

He said the Learning Digitalization for Smart Indonesia program had made significant progress and marked an important milestone in efforts to strengthen education quality.

The launch was held at State Junior High School 4 in Bekasi, West Java.

Prabowo said the smartboard rollout represented a strong start to ensuring students across Indonesia gain access to modern learning tools, regardless of location.

He stressed that Indonesia must not fall behind other nations in education standards, adding that technology adoption is essential to improving teaching and learning outcomes.

He said no region should be left behind and that equal access to quality education can be achieved partly through digital advancements.

The IFP initiative is being implemented under Presidential Instruction No. 7/2025 on revitalizing educational units, developing excellence-based schools, and accelerating learning digitalization.

The smartboards support virtual learning and allow teachers to interact directly with students during real-time lessons, expanding access to remote and underserved areas.

The government plans to distribute about 288,000 IFPs by the end of this year as part of the national rollout.

Primary and Secondary Education Minister Abdul Muti reported that as of November 16, 2025, 172,550 smartboards had reached schools, while another 43,022 units were still in transit.
