National Education Day: Minister seeks sustainable education ecosystem

 The Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto emphasized the importance of developing national education within a comprehensive and sustainable ecosystem to ensure that knowledge is effectively transformed into innovation.

This was highlighted in his speech at the commemoration ceremony of the National Education Day at the headquarters of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, in Jakarta,

“We must build national education as a comprehensive and sustainable ecosystem, from the home and school to higher education, moving from learning to research, and from knowledge to innovation,” he remarked.

Yuliarto underscored that the world is currently changing at a rapid pace due to technological advancements, requiring education to keep moving forward.

To ensure the success of this transformation he affirmed that the ministry is promoting the implementation of deep learning.

This approach ensures that students do not simply memorize information but also understand, reason, feel, and apply the knowledge they gain to real life situations.

"This foundation is strengthened through educational institution development and revitalization, as well as learning digitalization, as part of the president's quick-win programs. This also includes the use of interactive flat panels (IFPs) at schools," he said.

The minister said the government is also strengthening the role of educators through Recognition of Prior Learning and specialized training programs.

He noted that certification and incentives are being provided to ensure improved welfare for teachers and academic staff.

This effort continues at the university level where lecturers and researchers are building the academic ecosystem needed to address future challenges.

“A strong foundation must be built upon to become the force that answers future challenges. This is where the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology plays a role as an accelerator for the nation's progress,” the minister stated.

In this regard he invited all relevant agencies to strengthen collective participation and provide quality education that is inclusive, relevant, and impactfu for everyone.

The government aims to ensure that knowledge is effectively transformed into innovation to maintain national competitiveness in a digital age.
