Nusantara welcomes over 350,000 visitors during Eid holiday
Indonesia's future capital city, Nusantara, welcomed a total of 352,102 visitors during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday season from March 18 to 29.
The holiday surge drew 805,105 vehicles, including motorbikes, cars, and buses, to the new capital site.
The Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Authority ensured that it provided optimal services to visitors seeking to explore the Government Core Area (KIPP) in East Kalimantan Province.
"During the visit period, the State Palace and the IKN State Mosque stood out with the highest count of visitors in the Nusantara KIPP," said Troy Pantouw, spokesperson for the IKN Authority,
He pointed out that significant numbers of visitors were also recorded at a glamping area featuring a glass bridge, the Sepaku Semoi Dam, and Kusuma Bangsa Park.
Furthermore, he noted that the new capital offers green open space around the MBG Retention Pond as an alternative site for tourists.
"The Seremoni Plaza and Bhinneka Plaza emerged as public community hubs supported by various facilities, ranging from culinary areas to entertainment and social events," Pantouw added.
He reported that tens of thousands of people visited the Sentra Massa (Mass Center), which serves as Nusantara's information hub equipped with educational facilities, including a mini theater, a city mock-up, a mini control center, and interactive displays showcasing development progress.
Pantouw attributed the successful tourist receptions to the Public Visit Service Team, led by IKN Authority Secretary Bimo Adi Nursanthyasto and Deputy for Development Control Thomas Umbu Bolodadi.
He also credited support from the military, the police, the North Penajam Paser District government, and the Ministry of Public Works for ensuring safe visits during the peak season.
