Minister Abdul Mu'ti encourages students to adopt growth mindset

Indonesia’s Education Minister Abdul Muti urged students to adopt a growth mindset, emphasizing their vital role in helping the nation achieve its Golden Indonesia 2045 vision of developed-country status.

“Great people are not those who never fall, but those who learn from every experience,” Mu’ti said during an online forum attended by roughly 4,000 students on Thursday.

He encouraged students to pursue big changes through small, consistent steps, stressing the importance of building positive habits in daily life.

Secretary General Suharti highlighted that the forum reflects the ministry’s commitment to engaging students, the primary subjects of education, and understanding their aspirations.

“This forum aims to increase awareness of priority programs, listen to students, and inspire our younger generation,” Suharti said.

She noted the active participation of student organizations, including the Student Patriot Community (PPM), Nahdlatul Ulama Students’ Association (IPNU), and Muhammadiyah Students’ Association (IPM).

Suharti added the forum provides a platform to showcase the government’s strategic achievements in education policy.

One initiative is the “7 Habits of Great Indonesian Children,” a character-building program teaching seven positive behaviors, from waking up early to maintaining consistent sleep schedules.

Another is digital learning expansion through interactive flat panels (IFPs), with hundreds of thousands delivered to schools as of February 2026 to support adaptive learning transformation.

The ministry also seeks to improve education access via the Smart Indonesia Program (PIP) and the Secondary Education Affirmation Scholarship (ADEM).

These programs aim to ensure underprivileged students and those in remote, frontier, and outermost regions can access quality education.

By combining habit-building, digital tools, and equitable access, Indonesia hopes to empower its youth to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s 2045 development goals.
