Rodri gesture spotted against Liverpool as Man City star shows true colors

Manchester City's Rodri was seen congratulating Liverpool players in the tunnel after their triumph at the Etihad. Stellar performances from Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai led the Reds to a comfortable win over the dethroned Premier League champions.

Despite the intense rivalry between these two teams in recent years, the match at the Etihad was one-sided. Rodri, a player whose absence has been keenly felt by Pep Guardiola this season, has been out since being injured in his third game of the season against Arsenal.

A cruciate ligament injury has sidelined the Spanish midfielder until at least early July this year. Despite his personal challenges, Rodri displayed true sportsmanship post-match on Sunday.

He was captured on Liverpool's official YouTube channel congratulating the likes of Alisson Becker, Alexis Mac Allister, Andy Robertson and other Liverpool stars. The 28-year-old demonstrated maturity in his actions, a trait not mirrored by 22-year-old Jeremy Doku.

The Belgian winger, who only managed one shot on target all game, claimed post-match that Arne Slot's team were not 'much better than' City. The performance suggested otherwise.

The victory at the Etihad was Liverpool's statement of intent as potential Premier League champions. Following Arsenal's loss to West Ham over the weekend, the Reds now sit 11 points clear at the top and appear to have one hand on the trophy.

Manchester City currently boasts a Ballon d'Or winner in their ranks, something Liverpool lacks. Rodri is the latest recipient of this esteemed accolade, but Salah is hotly tipped to be the next in line.

The Egyptian has racked up an impressive 25 goals and 16 assists in the Premier League this season, a tally that looks unlikely to be surpassed this year.
